This means my dog can't really rest his head on the edge like he did with his previous bed that had a firmer boundary.

Despite this, the bed's softness keeps my dog comfortable, and he seems to enjoy lounging on it. Overall, it's a good purchase, but I wish the edges were a bit firmer.
